BIOGRAPHY 

Joanna Stolzenburg is a graduate of Houghton College (2011) with a degree in Music Education. She was involved in a variety of musical activities from a very young age. Her first experience with opera was in 2002 with Opera Pro Voce as part of their children’s chorus for the production of Hansel and Gretel. Joanna continued to perform fully staged and costumed operas with OPV through December 2005 in productions such as Il Trovatore, Mefistofele, Tosca and Suor Angelica. Since her introduction to opera, Joanna began to study voice, obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, and is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance at C.W. Post.   

During her time at Houghton College, Joanna was actively involved in performances. She participated in several performances through the school, such as The Marriage of Figaro and Into the Woods. She was also active in the school’s mime team and later became the president. She put together two recitals and performed in several premiers of newly composed pieces. Joanna is always looking for opportunities to perform and welcomes the challenges and rewards that it brings to the performers and to the audience.
