Rowan began learning the violin in her native Australia at the age of 6. Funding from the Australia Council for the Arts, the Queen Elizabeth Trust for Young Australians, the Ian Potter Trust, the Nescafe Big Break Award, the PPCA Association and the American Australian Association enabled Rowan to undertake further study in the USA at Michigan State University and Stony Brook, where she is currently a DMA student.
Rowan has performed with major Australian orchestras as winner of competitions, including the 2006 Gisborne International Music Competition. She has also been a member of several ensembles such as the Sydney String Quartet and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Her interest in teaching most recently led to a position at the Wollongong Conservatorium in Australia and she continues to teach privately in the New York area.
